
When Knee Pain Started
It started with the stairs.
I used to go up and down without thinking. Then one morning I noticed I was holding the railing. I didn't decide to hold it. My hand just reached for it.
Then it was the getting up. From the sofa. From the chair. I started using my arms to push myself up.
The walks got shorter. The trips I used to plan started feeling like calculations. I started losing out in games and weekend exercise with my friends.
